10 good reasons to shoot in the rain
Chances are, with all these good reasons, I'll be able to convince you to shoot your couple or family session in the rain...
Most people who book a session tell me "we'd like to shoot in the sun because it's prettier", but also because it's more convenient when the weather's nice! When you plan your session weeks or even months in advance, it's difficult to predict the weather, and with a busy schedule, your photographer can't always afford to postpone your session. What if I told you that shooting in the rain can also be fun, and that it's actually one of my favorite types of session!
Not convinced? Here are 10 reasons why you should schedule your session right away on a rainy day...

FIRST REASON: IT'S ORIGINAL!
Since everyone wants to plan their shoot when the weather's nice, when the sun goes down, shooting in the rain will give you original, out-of-the-ordinary images, and a truly unique shooting atmosphere!

SECOND REASON: YOUR PHOTOS WILL HAVE A TOUCH OF DRAMA.
A storm is brewing, the sky is darkening, and suddenly the one thing you can't control during your session forces you to improvise, to look for inspiration in other ideas, another location perhaps... it creates a completely unexpected atmosphere and strong, contrasting images... I love it! (in the second image, we took refuge under the awning of a hotel and the light was so beautiful, I took the opportunity to shoot this backdrop against the light, crazy!)

THIRD REASON: IT'S FUN AND YOU'LL HAVE AN UNFORGETTABLE TIME!
Just because it's gray out doesn't mean it has to be reflected in your images...quite the opposite! Always in search of naturalness and authenticity, ignore the clouds and let yourself go, laugh, dance, vibrate...

FOURTH REASON: YOU'LL HAVE MORE PEACE OF MIND.
Most people don't like walking in the rain, so streets and public places are more deserted! (Really, I'm the only one who loves taking out my umbrella and walking in the rain?)

FIFTH REASON: UMBRELLA.
Yes, quite simply, because I find this object extremely aesthetic... and it inspires me to take lots of photos! (and frankly, playing with transparency, blur, water droplets and light, and then editing the image in black and white, that's my passion, I just love it, don't you?)

SIXTH REASON: WORKING WITH LIGHT.
Scheduling your session in the rain at the end of the day means you're guaranteed an incredible atmosphere, with restaurants, stores and cafés lighting up and lights reflecting in puddles.
There's an intensity in these images, a warmth, an atmosphere...indescribable, I just love it!

SEVENTH REASON: SHOOTING IN THE RAIN ALSO MEANS ACCEPTING THAT IT WILL SOMETIMES BE IMPERFECT...
A drop of water in front of the lens when capturing a photo and you end up with an image with a very interesting artistic blur... But the result is still pretty good!

EIGHTH REASON: YOU'LL GET IMAGES FULL OF SOFTNESS.
Just imagine: you're alone, embracing, in love, and all around you is the sound of falling rain... close your eyes and you'll have all the conditions you need to feel relaxed, soothed, and make images full of love.

NINTH REASON: IF YOU'RE LUCKY, IT'LL EVEN BE WINDY!
To play the wild side to the full, intense, free, I love shooting when it's windy... Choose the right materials for your outfits (like an airy dress for example...), let your hair down... and enjoy!

TENTH REASON: NOTHING COULD BE MORE ROMANTIC...
... than the famous fiery kiss in the pouring rain. Yes, chances are you'll end up soaking wet, but that's why I always recommend a second outfit. And frankly, it's worth it!

I still hope that after reading this article and all these (very good) reasons, shooting your session even if the weather forecast calls for rain is on your wishlist... Aren't these images magical?
Rain shouldn't be a reason for cancellation, because it's possible to find solutions, have a great time in spite of it all, and get some great photos in the end! And in some cases, especially weddings, it's impossible to postpone because of bad weather! So don't be afraid to take the plunge, come and do your session with me and leave with a magnificent gallery!
